At the Coliseum Cancer Institute, we know what it takes to treat cancer. But we know what’s most important – our dedicated group of physicians with expertise in a variety of cancer specialties who work hand-in-hand with our nurses and patients to fight cancer together. Nurse Navigator

A unique service of the Coliseum Cancer Center is the certified oncology nurses and a certified oncology nurse navigators. The nurse navigator serves as a personal guide, acting as a liaison between you and your physicians to enhance the quality and continuity of care for the cancer patient. The nurse navigator’s services are provided free of charge by Coliseum Cancer Center and include:

Medical - Helps patients and their families to understand their diagnosis and treatment options. Assists patient with accessing appointments and resources in the community. Provides consultation to physicians and other healthcare providers regarding resources and services available to cancer patients. Nurse Navigators develop long term relationships to ensure compliance with recommended screenings and follow ups. Also offer end-of –life support as needed.
Emotional - Provides consultation to cancer patient and their families to access and determine personal needs and concerns. Maintains communication with cancer patient and their families to ensure that their needs are being met and that side effects are well managed. This service will decrease complications and enhance the quality of life during treatment. Provides support group opportunities and ensures access to available resources.
Educational - Educates patients about available resources. Provides assistance with online research and maintains an extensive up-to date resource library.
